The project consisted of carrying out a review and expert analysis of the geotechnical design project of the El Mauro Tailings dam, and the degree to which this project was adapted to the current criteria of seismicity and safety levels, together with the criteria proposed in the Decree 248 “Regulations for the Approval of Projects for the Design, Construction, Operation and Closure of Tailings Tanks”.

Subsequently, and based on this first study, the danger distance of a spill was determined by an eventual collapse of the El Mauro dam and presentation of a mitigation measure, in accordance with the current Sernageomin criteria.
